Highway 54 repaving begins this week

JEFFERSON CITY– Just in time for tourist season, a resurfacing project on U.S. Route 54 in Miller County is set to begin this week and run until December.

The project will span more than 22 miles from the Cole County line to Missouri Route 242 in Lake Ozark and will include the installation of median guard cable.

Construction crews plan to begin work on Wednesday, June 18, in the eastbound lanes of U.S. Route 54 near Missouri Route 52, south of Eldon. Throughout the project, crews plan to work Monday through Friday, daylight hours. U.S. Route 54 will remain open with a 12-foot width restriction in place, and motorists should exercise caution, eliminate distractions, and slow down through the single-lane work zones.

The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $12,451,800 contract to complete this project to Capital Paving & Construction, LLC during their November 2024 meeting. The contractor expects to have all work complete on or before Dec. 1, 2025.

All work is weather permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
