Checkup lands local man in jail

(Editor’s note: Though this arrest occurred on February 20 the information was not released by the Camden County Sheriff’s Department until February 25).

CAMDEN COUNTY – A Camdenton man has been arrested after a check by deputies allegedly turned up drugs.

On February 20, 2019 Camden County Deputies, along with personnel from Probation and Parole, responded to an apartment located in the 800 Block of West US Highway 54 in Camdenton, MO, in reference to checking on Justin S. Lucas, 33, a registered sex offender.

Lucas is on the sex offender list with the charge of Contributing To The Sexual Delinquency Of A Minor in Hood River, OR.

According to the Camden County Sheriff’s Department (CCSD) upon searching the residence, numerous items of illegal drugs were located which included marijuana and methamphetamine.

The CCSD said there were two children (both age two) in the home at the time so the DSS children’s division was contacted.

“As part of Justin Lucas's sex offender stipulations, he is not to loiter within 500 feet of a daycare and not to reside within 1,000 feet of a daycare,” a CCSD spokesman said. “Where Lucas was living, violated that restriction.”

Lucas was arrested and taken to the Camden County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with:

Count 1 - Committing a Class D Felony of Possession of Controlled Substance
Count 2 - Committing a Class E Felony of Prior Offender residing within 1,000 ft of school/child care facility
Count 3 - Committing a Class A Misdemeanor of Possession of Marijuana/Synthetic Cannabinoid - Prior Drug Offense
Count 4 - Committing a Class A Misdemeanor of Unlawful Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia - Prior Drug Offense

Lucas is being held at the Camden County Adult Detention Center on a $25,000 cash or $2,500 bond. Lucas is also being held without bond on a probation violation warrant.
