OBFPD: Another week another structure fire

OSAGE BEACH – The Osage Beach Fire Protection District (OBFPD) fought another structure fire last week that kept them on scene for over four hours.

Just before 6:30 p.m. Monday evening (January 27) both OBFPD stations were alerted for a residential structure fire in the area of Crystal Springs Road. The call brought both Osage Beach Stations and Mid-County Fire Protection District to the scene while the Lake Ozark Fire Protection District was assigned to district coverage.

Crews arrived on scene within 12 minutes and found a single-story commercial structure with smoke showing. The alarm was immediately upgraded to a second alarm which brought the Lake Ozark Fire Protection District to the scene.

The Eldon City Fire Department was requested for district coverage.

Upon further investigation, the fire was found on the rear of the structure both inside and outside of the building and was spreading rapidly so multiple attack lines were placed in service to combat the fire.

It was also discovered that several cars, a propane tank and other flammables were in the interior and being fueled by the fire which made an interior attack impossible for firefighters.

Additional crews were requested to the scene bringing another crew from Mid-County, a Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District Tanker, a Brush Truck and a Gravois Fire ladder truck.

Due to no hydrants being in the area, water was shuttled from a local pond by multiple tankers from across the lake area.

Crews worked on scene for over four-and-a-half hours before clearing the scene.

During this time the Eldon Fire Department responded to two incidents while the OBFPD crews were at the fire.

The business was closed at the time of the fire and no civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.

The fire is currently under investigation by the Osage Beach Fire Marshal’s Office.

“A big thank you to our neighbors for all of the help sent and a great working relationship,” an OBFPD spokesman said.
