Eldon man charged with slitting a man's throat
ELDON – An Eldon man has been arrested after allegedly slitting a man’s throat.
According to the Probable Cause Statement (PCS) filed with the Miller County Court, on Tuesday January 28 at approximately 9:57 p.m., officers with the Eldon Police Department were dispatched to an address in the city regarding a 30-year-old male with a laceration to his throat.
When they arrived on scene they found the victim kneeling on the other side of the doorway with a towel covering his throat. The officer immediately attended to him and located the laceration. After seeing it he covered it back up and put pressure on the laceration.
The victim spoke with the officer and said he and the subject, Vincent Stevson, were just “messing around” and then he didn’t know what happened.
When the officer asked the victim if the laceration was intentional he said yes, it was.
“I asked (the victim) if they were messing around and this is an intentional act, how did it get to this point and (the victim) stated he did not know, it was like a switch flipped and the defendant came after him and cut his throat,” according to the PCS.
Stevson was in the garage and was taken into custody without incident by other officers.
When witnesses were questioned that had the same story: both the victim and Stevson had been “heavily drinking” throughout the evening and that the two had been going back and forth verbally and “wrestling around.”
The witness said he saw Stevson standing in front of the victim with a knife in his hand and the victim was sitting on the couch clutching his throat.
Stevson was taken back to the Eldon Police Department where they attempted to interview him but “the defendant was pretty intoxicated.”
He was taken to the Miller County Jail and would be interviewed the next day, according to the PCS.
Stevson was charged with Assault 1st Degree Or Attempt - Serious Physical Injury Or Special Victim (Felony) and Armed Criminal Action (Felony). He was given a $200,000 bond.
As a reminder, Stevson is innocent of all charges until proven guilty in a court of law.
