Lake house destroyed in Thurs. afternoon fire
LINN CREEK – A home is considered a total loss after a fire last Thursday afternoon.
At 3:25 p.m. on December 12, a first alarm was struck sending the Osage Beach Fire Protection District to a residential structure fire in the Linn Creek area.
While en route, crews could see a column of smoke which meant they had a working fire.
Chief 4 arrived on scene and found a two-story structure 50 percent involved along with a boat. An exposure on the right side was also beginning to smolder.
Multiple hand lines were placed in service to bring the fire under control. Two fire boats, one from The Mid-County Fire Protection District and one from the Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District were also brought in to assist due to the home being on the waterfront.
The exposure was prevented from igniting but did melt the siding.
Due to no fire hydrants in the immediate area, tankers were utilized to establish a drafting site and a fire boat was also used to supply water from the lake.
Additional crews were brought in from Sunrise Beach, Mid-County, Lake Ozark. The Gravois Fire District provided district coverage throughout the incident.
Firefighters spent four hours extinguishing the fire.
There were no firefighter or civilian injuries reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the state Fire Marshall’s office and the building is considered a total loss.
