Osage Beach Fire District breaks record for most calls in one year

OSAGE BEACH - 2024 was a historic year for the Osage Beach Fire Protection District (OBFPD).

They responded to a record 2,505 incidents throughout the year. This averages to nearly seven calls per day for the district.

This record which was previously set in 2018 at 2,244 has been shattered by over 250 calls.

The following calls were sent to the fire district in 2024.

• 244 Dispatched and canceled en route
• 160 Motor Vehicle Accidents/Extrication
• 154 False alarm and false call, other
• 90 Public service assistance
• 64 Natural vegetation/Outside fire
• 35 Cover assignment, standby at fire station, move-up
• 35 Structure Fire
• 26 Electrical wiring/equipment problem
• 24 Combustible/Flammable spill & leak, Hazmat Related
• 12 Good intent call, other
• 10 Mobile property (vehicle) fire
• 9 Service call, other
• 8 Search for lost person
• 6 Smoke, odor problem
• 5 Water or ice-related rescue
• 5 Water problem
• 4 Animal problem or rescue
• 1 Excessive heat, scorch burns with no ignition
• 1 Special type of incident (Sinkhole)

 Overlapping Incidents (more than one incident happening at the same time) 278 Times
Average Response Time: 6 Minutes 24 Seconds

“With the call volume expected to rise we are in constant discussions on how to handle this and continue to provide the quality of service our citizens and visitors have come to expect,” a spokesman said. “We are grateful for the hard work and dedication our firefighters continue to provide every day.”
