OB police vehicle totaled in snowy accident

OSAGE BEACH – Another police vehicle has been totaled and can be blamed on bad road conditions.

Last Friday morning at approximately 6:00 a.m., an officer with the Osage Beach Police Department (OBPD) was working an accident on the Grand Glaize Bridge involving an “18-wheeler” truck.

The officer was out of his vehicle with his emergency lights on assisting in the first accident when another 18-wheeler lost control and hit the police vehicle. The officer was not injured as he was not in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Through no fault of their own, the department has lost several vehicles over the past few years.

On Thursday June 15, 2023, an officer was traveling eastbound on Highway 54 approaching the Grand Glaize Bridge when he observed a vehicle traveling towards him.

The officer activated his emergency equipment to get the driver’s attention as it was traveling in the wrong direction on Highway 54. The driver of the vehicle did not stop and collided head-on with the officer’s vehicle.

The officer was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released. The vehicle was totaled in the accident.

On August 31, 2024 another patrol vehicle was lost when the police vehicle involved in a pursuit ended up hitting a tree and catching on fire. Officer Phylicia Carson, 33, lost her life in the crash.

The incident last Friday is under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
