Serious injuries after motorcycle hits deer

LAKE OF THE OZARKS – Last Sunday a motorcycle and a deer met on Highway 17 near Livingston Road in Miller County at 2:14 p.m.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) a 34-year-old male from St. Robert, MO, was driving a 2011 Harley Davidson south when he hit the deer in the roadway. This caused the motorcycle to go off the roadway ejecting the driver, who was wearing a helmet.

He received serious injuries and was flown by MU Air Care to University Hospital.

The Harley was totaled and there was no word on the condition of the deer.

The MSHP refused to release the name of the driver.

A Kaiser woman was seriously injured in a one-vehicle accident last week.

On Monday August 24 at 6:48 p.m., a 48-year-old Kaiser, MO, woman was driving a 2008 Honda Element south on Highway D in Camden County “too fast for curvy road conditions.”

The Honda went off the right side of the road and began skidding, then went across the center of the road and went off the left side of the road, hit a tree and overturned onto the passenger side.

She suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, MO. She was not wearing a seat belt.

The Honda was totaled in the crash.

The MSHP refused to release the name of the driver.

Seven minutes later in Miller County a two-vehicle accident sent three to the hospital and included a police officer.

The incident occurred when a 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage, driven by a 21-year-old female from Hannibal, MO, was traveling east on 4th Street.

At that time a 2025 Ford Explorer from the Miller County Sheriff’s Office, driven by a 32-year-old male from California, MO, was traveling south on Grand Avenue with lights and siren activated.

The Mitsubishi was going straight, began to slow and hit the passenger side of the Ford Explorer.

The Ford Explorer was going straight at the time of the accident and began to slow/stop when it was hit by the Mitsubishi and went off the right side of the road.

The driver of the Mitsubishi and a 19-year-old female passenger (from Eldon, MO) received minor injuries and were taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital.

The officer also had minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital.

All involved were wearing their seat belts. Both vehicles were totaled in the accident.

The MSHP refused to release the names of those involved.

Last Wednesday, August 26 at 11:16 a.m., an 81-year-old female from Fulton, MO, was driving a 2017 Hyundai Elantra west on Highway 52 in Miller County when she slowed down to make a right turn into a private drive.

At that time a 2012 GMC Sierra, driven by an 18-year-old male from Fortuna, MO, was coming up behind her.

The GMC failed to slow and made an attempt to avoid hitting the Elantra but hit the passenger side of the Elantra, causing both vehicles to travel off the roadway and onto the grass.

The driver of the Elantra had minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts and both vehicles had moderate damage.

The MSHP refused to release the names of those involved.

Last Friday at 12:00 p.m. a man was injured in a motorcycle accident.

A 2008 Harley Davidson FLHTZ was northbound on Willow Creek Road, being driven by a 64-year-old male from Pleasant Hill, MO, when the motorcycle began to skid while entering a curve. This caused the motorcycle to overturn ejecting the driver.

He received serious injuries and was flown by MU Air Care to University Hospital. He was not wearing a helmet.

The motorcycle had moderate damage.

The MSHP refused to release the name of the driver.

A three-vehicle accident in Morgan County last Saturday sent one to the hospital.

At 10:25 p.m. on Highway 50 near Fork Lane, a 47-year-old male from Jefferson City, MO, was driving a 2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer east and for some unstated reason was stopped in the middle of the road.

Another eastbound vehicle, a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by a 47-year-old female from Sedalia, MO, hit the rear of the stopped Trailblazer.

A 2014 Kia Soul, driven by a 45-year-old female from Warrensburg, MO, was also eastbound and hit the rear of the Equinox.

The driver of the Trailblazer suffered minor injuries and was taken to Bothwell Hospital by ambulance.

All three drivers were wearing their seat belts.

The Trailblazer had moderate damage and the Equinox and Soul had extensive damage.

The MSHP refused to release the names of those involved.
