Camdenton man dead after hitting a tree

LAKE OF THE OZARKS – A Camdenton man is dead following a one-vehicle accident last Saturday evening.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) at 8:38 p.m. a 70-year-old male from Camdenton, MO, was driving a 2011 Ram S35 west on Highway 7 east of Velvet Antler Rod in Camden County when the vehicle went off the right side of the roadway, returned to the roadway and crossed the center of the road.

It then went off the left side of the road, went airborne and hit a tree, ejecting the driver who was not wearing a seat belt.

He was pronounced dead at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, MO by Camden County Medical Examiner Crystal Lloyd.

This is Troop F’s second fatality for June and number 18 for the year.

The MSHP refused to release the name of the victim.

An Eldon man has been injured in a three-vehicle accident last week involving a dump truck.

According to the MSHP, last Thursday at 4:30 p.m. a 2018 International Harvester Dump Truck, driven by a 47-year-old female from Jefferson City, MO, was westbound on Highway 54 west of Highway 54/Route FF connector in Miller County when she pulled merged into the path of a 2015 Polaris Slingshot driven by a 76-year-old man from Eldon, MO.

The Slingshot attempted to avoid the dump truck and hit a 2012 Chevrolet Impala being driven by a 21-year-old female from St. Peters, MO.

The Slingshot then crossed the roadway and hit the dump truck and overturned.

The driver of the Slingshot suffered moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to St. Mary’s Hospital. All involved were wearing a seat belt. The Impala had minor damage, the dump truck no damage and the Slingshot was totaled.

The MSHP refused to release the names of those involved.

On Monday June 16 a two-vehicle accident left two with minor injuries in Miller County.

At 5:10 p.m. on Route Y north of Fox Road, a 2011 Honda CRV, driven by a 60-year-old male from Eldon, MO, was traveling south when it hit the rear of a southbound 2016 Chrysler Town and Country van, being driven by a 45-year-old female also from Eldon, MO, who was attempting to turn left.

The driver of the van had minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospita. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.

The van had extensive damage and the Honda was totaled.

The MSHP refused to release the names of those involved.

Last Wednesday an accident involving two vehicles sent three to the hospital.

A 2015 Ford F150, driven by an 18-year-old male from Stover, MO, was traveling south on Highway 52 at Old YY in Morgan County at 11:10 a.m. when he crossed the centerline and traveled into the path of a westbound 2023 Nissan Altima, driven by a 66-year-old male from Versailles, MO.

The Nissan ended up hitting the Ford.

The driver of the truck received moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to University Hospital. He was not wearing a seat belt.

A passenger in the truck, a 20-year-old male from Sedalia, MO, had minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Bothwell Regional Health Center. He was wearing a seat belt.

A 51-year-old male from Stover, MO, who was a passenger in the Nissan, suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital. He also was wearing a seat belt.

The Nissan was totaled and the truck had extensive damage.

Another two-vehicle accident occurred about 35 minutes later in Camden County when a 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan, driven south on Route AA south of Independence Drive by a 55-year-old man from Kansas City, MO, crossed the centerline of the road and into the path of a 2024 Subaru Legacy, driven by a 69-year-old female from Lees Summit, MO.

The driver of the Subaru had minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital. Both involved were wearing their seat belts. The Dodge had minor damage and the Subaru moderate damage.

The MSHP refused to release the names of those involved.

At 3:30 p.m. on Highway 5 south of the Morgan/Camden County line, another two-vehicle accident sent both drivers to the hospital with minor injuries.

The MSHP reported that a 2016 Jeep Patriot, driven by a 63-year-old female from Stover, MO, was traveling south when it failed to yield and pulled into the path of a 2017 Acura RDX, being driven by a 82-year-old male from Kansas City, MO, while turning.

Both drivers had minor injuries and were taken to Lake Regional Hospital. Both were wearing their seat belts and both vehicles had extensive damage.

The MSHP refused to release the names of those involved.

Last Thursday evening a single vehicle accident left an Eldon man with minor injuries.

A 2006 Ford F150, driven by a 22-year-old man from Eldon, MO, was traveling east on Woods Drive east of Brown Road in Miller County, when the vehicle went off the left side of the road and overturned after hitting a creek embankment.

The driver had minor injuries and was taken by private vehicle to St. Mary’s Hospital. He was wearing a seat belt and the truck was totaled in the crash.

The MSHP refused to release the name of the driver.
