Two felons apprehended in Edwards area
CAMDEN COUNTY - Two wanted felons have been arrested in Edwards last week with multiple warrants credited to their names.
Last Tuesday morning (October 29) deputies from the Camden County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) Missouri State Highway Patrol Troopers, members of the Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group and United States Marshals arrested the two wanted felons in the Edwards area of the Benton/Camden County border.
Jacob JM Nutt, 32, and Kristina N (Compton) Nutt, 36, of Edwards, MO, were arrested on several felony warrants.
According to the CCSO, in recent months, Jacob and Kristina have been involved in several high-speed pursuits in the Climax Springs and Edwards areas and Jacob has made threats against law enforcement.
One of these pursuits took place the week before on October 23.
According to the Probable Cause Statement, that pursuit ended with both Nutts eventually getting away.
“On 10/23/2024 at approximately 1538 hours, I was contacted on my department issued cellular phone by an unidentified caller who stated, ‘Jake Nutt is on 7 heading toward Greenview, driving a dark Ford truck and pulling a trailer with a lot of scrap metal on it. He is almost to State Road J.’ Jacob Nutt was wanted on several felony warrants along with a fugitive warrant from the state of Kansas. Nutt’s (redacted from the PCS) was also wanted on several felony warrants.”
The officer was stationed at Highway 7 and Route J when he noticed Nutt’s vehicle try and make a left turn onto Route J, then do an “erratic” U-turn and sped off. The officer identified the driver as Nutt and began the pursuit, notifying dispatch of the situation.
“As the vehicle continued West on Highway 7, the vehicle continually drove in the opposite lane of travel, driving head on to oncoming traffic. The driver, Jacob Nutt also maintained excessive speed while passing vehicles on blind hills and curves, these actions also caused several motorists to be pushed off the roadway and into the ditch. Benton County Sheriff’s Office along with Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop A were notified the pursuit was heading into Benton County,” the PCS stated.
The chase continued down Route DD and eventually on Route FF. After approximately 300 yards on Route FF, Nutt turned into a gated field and exited the vehicle.
According to the PCS, “While exiting my patrol vehicle, and drawing my duty weapon, I could immediately observed Nutt exit his vehicle, turn and face me while holding his middle finger up on one hand while screaming “F_CK YOU, F_CK YOU’. In Nutt’s other hand was a black object that was being pointed directly at me. Before a use of force occurred, I was able to identify the object as a cell phone and not a handgun. Nutt then turned and ran away from me, jumping a gate and fled through the field.”
A passenger in the vehicle with Nutt also fled and the officer began a foot pursuit that went about a quarter-mile when Jacob and the passenger separated and went different directions. Due to him being the only officer on the scene he terminated the pursuit due to “officer safety.”
More Camden County deputies arrived along with Benton County deputies, MSHP troopers and a fixed wing aircraft that set up a perimeter. Despite this both suspects got away.
After being arrested last Tuesday, Jacob Nutt was transported to the Camden County Adult Detention Facility where he is being held on multiple active felony and misdemeanor warrants from Camden, Hickory, and Benton Counties, including Felony Receiving Stolen Property, two counts of Felony Resisting Arrest and a Fugitive Warrant from Kansas. He is being held without bond.
Kristina Nutt was also transported to the Camden County Adult Detention Facility where she is being held on probation violation warrants for original charges of a Felony 1st Degree Tampering with a Motor Vehicle, a Felony Possession of Controlled Substance and a Felony Non-Support. She is also being held without bond.
The CCSO reminds people that these charges are merely allegations of wrongdoing and all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
