Fire damages home on Route V

CAMDEN COUNTY – An afternoon fire has caused significant damage to a home on Route V.

Last Saturday around 3:56 p.m., The Mid County Fire Protection District (MCFPD) was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 2982 State Route V.  First arriving units found a two-story residence with heavy fire showing in the rear corner of the residence.

According to the MCFD, the fire had originated on the lower floor and spread to the upper floor and attic. Firefighters made a quick attack on the fire and were able to bring it under control in approximately 30 minutes.

Fire damage was contained to the upper and lower back corner of the residence with significant heat and smoke damage throughout the structure. There were no injuries as a result of the fire.

The fire is believed to be accidental with probable cause being fumes from acetone being ignited, MCFPD said. The fire is being investigated by the MCFPD Fire Marshal.

The MCFPD responded with two engines, four tankers, a ladder truck and a squad and we are assisted at the scene by an engine from the Osage Beach Fire Protection District.

The Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District moved an engine to MCFPD station number two for district coverage. MCFPD was also assisted by the Camden County Sheriff’s Office, Linn Creek Police Department and the Camden County Ambulance District.

All units cleared the scene at approximately 6:15 p.m.
