Two children in serious condition after lake accident

LAKE OF THE OZARKS - Two Versailles children suffered serious injuries when they fell or jumped off a dock in Morgan County Saturday evening.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol - Water Division (MWP), Destiny J. Ponds and Izak E. Garmany (ages unknown) had walked away from a residence near Coffee Creek Cove, crossed a private road and walked onto the walkway of a privately owned dock.

“Both children walked halfway down the walkway of the dock before they fell or jumped into the water,” the MWP said.

Ponds suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia.

Garmany also suffered serious injuries but was taken to University Hospital by Staff For Life helicopter.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:38 p.m. at the 9 Mile Marker of the Gravois Arm.

A two-boat collision occurred later that night in Toad Cove at the 7 Mile Marker.

According to the MWP, a 1997 Cruiser driven by John M. Sickle, 63, of Macon was leaving a dock when it collided with a 2001 Fountain.

The MWP was not able to provide information on the driver of the second boat, nor if there had been any injuries.

According to the MWP, the incident occurred on July 12 at approximately 10:58 p.m. in Camden County.

A water tube accident on Sunday afternoon left a 12-year-old Nebraska boy with minor injuries.

According to the MWP, a 2010 jet ski driven by Patrick P. Wallace, 18, of Leewood, Kansas was towing Aidian G. Hunter of Omaha, Nebraska on a water tube when the tube hit a wake.

Hunter was ejected from the tube and suffered minor injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Capital Region Hospital in Jefferson City.

According to the MWP, the incident occurred July 13 at approximately 3:40 p.m. at the 2.6 Mile Marker of the Gravois Arm in Morgan County.

The Ford pickup struck the Dodge Avenger on the driver’s side and both vehicles traveled off the south side of the roadway before coming to rest.
