Investigation lands two in jail 

CAMDEN COUNTY – A Greenview couple have found themselves behind bars after a narcotics investigation turned up alleged drugs and weapons.

Last week (May 21) deputies with the Camden County Sheriffs Department (CCSD) along with the Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group were conducting a narcotics investigation in the northern part of Camden County.

At the conclusion of the investigation, a search warrant was executed and during the execution of the search warrant, a quantity of methamphetamine, marijuana, opioid pills, drug paraphernalia and firearms were seized, according to the CCSD.

The Sheriff’s department also said that one shotgun was found to be an illegally altered firearm.

Two individuals were arrested during the search warrant.

Kayla B Varney, 24 out of Greenview, MO, is charged with:
• Two Counts of Possession Of Controlled Substance Except 35 Grams Or Less Of Marijuana/Synthetic Cannabinoid (Felony)
• Six counts of Class E Felony possession of Unlawful use of a Weapon by possessing a weapon and controlled substance
• One count of Unlawful Possession, Transport, Manufacture, Repair Or Sale Of Illegal Weapon (Misdemeanor)
• One Count of Possession Of Marijuana/Synthetic Cannabinoid Of 11-35 Grams (Misdemeanor)

She was being held on $4,000 cash only bond.

Michael S Varney, 39, also of Greenview, MO, is charged with:
• Two Counts of Possession Of Controlled Substance Except 35 Grams Or Less Of Marijuana/Synthetic Cannabinoid (Felony)
• Six counts of Class E Felony possession of Unlawful use of a Weapon by possessing a weapon and controlled substance
• One count of Unlawful Possession, Transport, Manufacture, Repair Or Sale Of Illegal Weapon (Misdemeanor)
• One Count of Possession Of Marijuana/Synthetic Cannabinoid Of 11-35 Grams (Misdemeanor)

He was being held on a $8,000 cash only bond.

Both individuals were being held at the Camden County Jail on bond.
