Man arrested in stabbing

MILLER COUNTY – A Jefferson City man has been arrested in an alleged stabbing that happened at the end of April.

On April 26, deputies with the Miller County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) were dispatched to the St. Elizabeth area for an assault investigation involving a 21 year old male resident of Taos, who sustained a stab wound to the neck. The victim had been taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment.

Detectives later discovered that the victim’s vehicle had also been taken without his permission after the alleged assault.

During their investigation, detectives were able to identify a person-of-interest in the assault, Ryan Scott Garvin, 23, of Jefferson City.

With the assistance of the Jefferson City Police Department and Cole County Sheriff’s Office, Garvin was arrested and taken to the Miller County Sheriff’s Office on unrelated arrest warrants.

Garvin was interviewed and subsequently charged by the Miller County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office with the following criminal offences:

Two counts of Assault in the First Degree, (a Class A Felony), two counts of Armed Criminal Action (an Unclassified Felony), Robbery In the First Degree (a Class A Felony)

Garvin is being held at the Miller County Adult Detention Center in lieu of a $300,000 bond.
