Crash sends man to hospital

LAKE OF THE OZARKS – A Linn Creek man is in serious condition after an accident last week on Route V.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) last Thursday at 1:44 a.m., a 2006 Ford Explorer, driven by Richard Musselman, 25, of Linn Creek, MO, was southbound on Route V, 417 feet north of Country Meadows Drive when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road.

It then struck a sign, hit a driveway and became airborne. As the vehicle came down it hit a ditch, overturned, struck the ground and came to rest on its roof.

Musselman suffered serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital. The MSHP said he was not wearing a safety device.

In other accidents last week:

Two accidents occurred on Sunday April 21 in Miller County.

In the first one, a two-vehicle accident left a female with minor injuries when a 2001 Chrysler Van, driven by Daniel Bax, 70, of St. Elizabeth, MO, was eastbound on Route 42 at Route 134 around 2:30 p.m.

The MSHP said at that time a 2007 Honda Accord, driven by Rona Bern, 58, of Columbia, MO, was at a stop sign when the vehicle attempted to turn left onto Route 42 but failed to yield to oncoming traffic and struck the Chrysler Van.

A passenger in the van, Doris Bax, 67, also of St. Elizabeth, received minor injuries and was transported by EMS to Capitol Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.

All involved were wearing their safety devices.

Later that same evening (10:42 p.m.) a single vehicle accident left a man with moderate injuries. Wade Kasper, 39, of Crocker, MO, was driving the 2014 Polaris ATV northbound on Ozark Trail Road and attempted to cross a steep creek crossing.

The vehicle ended up coming to rest on top the driver. Kasper received moderate injuries and was transported by Miller County EMS to Lake Regional Hospital.

The MSHP said he was not wearing a safety device.
