Second victim in Edwards shooting dies

CAMDEN COUNTY - A second victim in a recent Edwards shooting has died.

According to the Camden County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) On Sunday February 19 at approximately 11:00 p.m., Camden County Communications received a call about a disturbance in the area of State Road FF and Pine Cove Road in Edwards.

The caller on the 911 call could be heard telling someone to “put the gun down...Alex, put the gun down.”  There were sounds of fighting and then the call disconnected.

Upon arrival in the area, deputies and medical personnel located the residence where they found a male subject, later identified as Eric L Cantrell, 56, lying on the living room floor of a camper suffering from an obvious gunshot wound.

He died at the scene.

A second gunshot victim, Tammy M Larrabee, 54, was also in the camper and was evacuated by helicopter to an area hospital.  She was then taken to University Hospital on February 21 and was pronounced dead on February 24.

During their on-scene investigation on February 19, detectives identified Alexander O Cantrell-King, 19, a family member of both victims. Cantrell-King claimed he heard a gunshot go off inside the camper and when he went in to investigate he observed Larrabee holding a 30-30 rifle and observed Eric Cantrell lying on the floor.

The CCSO said that detectives are still investigating all the evidence in this case and are working with the Camden County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office to ensure any other charges, if necessary, are brought at the appropriate time.
