OB Board of Aldermen actions Thursday Mar. 19

OSAGE BEACH - In other business at the March 19 Board of Aldermen meeting:
* A budget amendment for lift station improvements and city park improvements was given first- and second-reading approval by the board.

According to Public Works Director Nick Edelman, the lift station improvements - with the purchase of GP (grinder pump) 10D for $11,059 - had originally been budgeted for 2014 but the purchase was not available until 2015.

The purchase brings the total amount of lift station improvements from $438,744 to $449,803.

In addition, city park improvements had been set at $205,000 but the budget amendment called for an additional $163,590.

“We thought this project would be completed in 2014,” Edelman stated in a report to the board. “We will be starting this project back up this month.”

The additional budgeted amount brings the city park improvement total to $369,590.

* A contract with WEX, Inc. to complete the installation of GPS on the rest of the city’s vehicle fleet was approved by the board.

According to City Administrator Jeana Woods, this is a purchase through a State of Missouri bid with WEX (Wright Express) Telematics and is a budgeted item for 2015.

* Three purchase requests from IS Operations Manager James Davis were approved by the board. The first request was for new network switches at a cost of $74,360.87 under a contract through the University of Wisconsin.

“The city of Osage Beach is currently using network equipment that is in some cases nearly 20 years old,” Davis stated in a report to the board. “The technology in use is way behind that which is needed for our current computing needs.”

The second IT (information technology) purchase was for two video servers at a cost of $21,870.

“The current video storage servers are aging and insufficient to handle the retention requirements that the State of Missouri demands by state statute,” Davis stated.

The new video servers will be purchased through a State of Missouri bid with Dell Computer; the servers had been budgeted at $56,000. The third IT purchase involved a backup server at a cost of $21,841.23.

According to the IS Operations Manager, the backup server is the third and final piece of a backup system that has been pout together over the past two years. It will be purchase through a similar State of Missouri bid with Dell Computer.

* The board also approved a request from Public Works Director Nick Edelman to purchase various plumbing parts that will re-stock the water department’s inventory.

“Four bids were received,” Edelman stated. “The low bidder was HD Supply in the amount of $11,758.52 and it is recommended we award the bid to HD Supply.”

The board agreed with Edelman’s assessment.

* A request from City Administrator Jeana Woods to dispose of surplus city property was approved by the board. The city will look toward selling a 10,000-gallon water storage tank from the Mace Road well site.

“The well off of Mace Road has been plugged and the site is being cleaned up,” Woods stated in a report to the board.

* A closed session to discuss “legal actions, causes of action or litigation involving a public government body” was held at the end of the regular meeting. No action was taken by the board.

* The board met at 4:30 p.m. instead of its usual time of 6:30 p.m. in order to attend a CVB function later that evening at Tan-Tar-A Resort.
