Wardsville man dies in motorcycle accident
LAKE OF THE OZARKS – A Wardsville man was killed in a motorcycle accident last week in Camden County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) on Monday February 20 at 12:30 a.m. on Route Y at Grandview Lane, Logan Lowry, 20, of Wardsville, MO, was westbound when the motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve, went off the right side of the road, overturned and hit a sign.
Lowry was pronounced dead at 1:08 a.m. by Dr. R Eastman at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, MO. He was wearing a helmet.
A passenger on the motorcycle, Reignah Taff, 19, of Camdenton, MO, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Lake Regional Hospital. She also was wearing a helmet.
Another motorcycle accident took place the next day in Camden County.
At 8:35 a.m. on Route D north of Jack North Road, a 2020 Harley Davidson Triglide Ultra, driven by Michael Jones, 65, of Camdenton, MO, was traveling south when it crossed the center of the road and hit a northbound 2011 Ford Focus, driven by Kyle Smith, 25, also of Camdenton, MO, head-on.
Jones received serious injuries and was taken by MU Air Care to University Hospital. He was wearing a helmet.
The motorcycle had moderate damage and the Focus had extensive damage.
A single-vehicle accident last Thursday sent two people to the hospital.
According to the MSHP, at 6:40 p.m. on Dodd’s Camp Road west of Adkins Road in Camden County, a 1997 Nissan Pickup, driven by Jimmy Hammond, 67, of Climax Springs, MO, was westbound when the MSHP reported that he was “Driving too fast on a gravel road” when the vehicle began to slide and went off the right side of the road and hit a tree.
Hammond and an occupant in the vehicle, Delbert Ritter, 61, also of Climax Springs, MO, were both ejected from the passenger door which was secured by a ratchet strap.
Both suffered moderate injuries and were taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital. The MSHP said neither was wearing a seat belt.
The truck had moderate damage.
Last Saturday a motorcycle accident left a man with minor injuries.
At 2:35 p.m. on Route U at Route EE in Miller County, Leonardo Olter, 40, of Waynesville, MO, was driving a 2009 Kawasaki Ninja south when the motorcycle went off the left side of the road, hit a ditch and overturned ejecting the driver.
Olter had minor injuries and received treatment at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.
The motorcycle was totaled in the crash.
A single-vehicle accident early Sunday morning left a man with serious injuries.
According to the MSHP, at 4:04 a.m. in Morgan County, a 2006 Chevrolet 2500, driven by Martin Bryce, 18, of Fortuna, MO, was northbound on Highway 5 north of Route HH when the vehicle went off the left side of the roadway, vaulted over a driveway and overturned.
Bryce suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital. He wasn’t wearing a seat belt.
A passenger in the vehicle, Joanna Hillman, 19, of Versailles, MO, received minor injuries and was also taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital. The MSHP said she also was not wearing a seat belt.
The truck was totaled in the accident.
