Chase, dog lead to arrest

OSAGE BEACH – A man is in custody after a police chase for alleged felony stealing and outstanding warrants last week.

On Dec. 12, at about 5:30 a.m., city police pursued a 2000 green Dodge pickup with a camper shell that had been involved with stealing from Purcell Tires the night before, according to police.

The vehicle was last seen in the area of Jeffries Road and was later found abandoned in the city.

Police issued a bulletin for help locating the registered owner of the vehicle, Barry T. Allenbrand, 52.

“He has with him a brindle colored pit bull or boxer puppy. The subject has multiple warrants out of the State of Kansas with a nationwide extradition,” the bulletin said.

Late in the week a city officer returned to the area where the vehicle was located and saw a female subject walking a dog that met the description in the bulletin. The officer observed the woman enter a nearby apartment.

The officer called for assistance and entry was made into the apartment.

Allenbrand was taken into custody without incident.
