Several businesses damaged in second-story fire

CAMDEN COUNTY – Several business have suffered smoke and water damage after a fire in a second story apartment last Friday.

At 10:45 p.m. the Mid-County Fire Protection District (MCFPD) was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 100 block of North Business Route 5 in Camdenton. 

First arriving firefighters found a two-story building with black smoke coming from the second story of the building.
Firefighters made entry into the building and found the fire on the second floor. Firefighters preformed a search of the building for possible occupants and started extinguishing the fire. 

A search of the building was completed and there were no occupants in the building at the time of the fire.  The fire was extinguished and marked under control 30 minutes after firefighters arrived on scene. 

The building where the fire was located had a business on the first floor (a military recruiter) and a residential apartment on the second floor (where the fire originated).

The residential apartment suffered fire, smoke and water damage. The business located on the first floor (below the residential apartment) suffered smoke and water damage. 

On each side of the building where the fire was located was an attached building and business.  Both of these businesses suffered minor smoke damage.

The fire is being investigated by the Missouri State Fire Marshal, the MCFPD Fire Marshal’s Office and Camdenton Police Department.

MCFPD responded to the scene with three engines, one aerial and one tanker and was assisted at the scene with a unit from Osage Beach Fire Protection District, the Camden County Ambulance District, the Camdenton Police Department, and Laclede Electric.

There were no injuries reported with this fire.  All firefighters cleared the fire scene at 1:30 a.m.
