House damaged in accidental fire

CAMDEN COUNTY – A fire ruled accidental has resulted in extensive damage to a home on Newton Street in Camdenton.

On Sunday, November 4, at 7:24 p.m., the Mid-County Fire Protection District (MCFPD) was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire at 62 Newton Street in Camdenton.

Firefighters arrived to find the rear side of a single story residence well involved in fire with the fire having spread to the attic.

Neighbors on scene reported to arriving firefighters that the occupant of the residence may still be inside. Firefighters entered the residence to search for the possible occupant while additional firefighters did a rapid attack on the fire.

Firefighters completed several searches of the residence and found no one located inside. The fire was brought under control in approximately 30 minutes. The Camdenton Police Department located the occupant of the residence safe and at another location. There was no one at the residence at the time of the fire.

The fire was investigated by the MCFPD Fire Marshal and was listed as accidental and appears to have started in the bedroom area, a MCFPD spokesman said.

MCFPD responded with an engine, an aerial and a squad and was assisted on scene with an engine from the Osage Beach Fire Protection District and an engine from Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District.

MCFPD was also assisted on scene by the Camden County Ambulance District, the Camdenton Police Department, Camdenton Public Works and Laclede Electric.

There were no injuries reported with this incident. All units cleared the scene at 9:38 p.m.
